P407 - Duty to Manage Asbestos

This course is aimed at any persons who are defined as Duty Holders under the current Control of Asbestos Regulations (Regulation 4) and additional ACoP L127.

The course will provide a practical guide to the current Legislation, HSE guidance and ACOP’s to enable the individual to reduce the risks to employees and occupants from asbestos containing materials within their buildings.

The course will provide the delegate with the knowledge to manage asbestos from identifying they have asbestos issues to deal with, to appointing the surveyor, carrying out an assessment and making an informed decision of the best control options available to them.

Each delegate will be assessed by the use of a short written assessment and examination at the end of the course

Duration

This course would be run over 2 days.

  • Asbestos Types and Properties;
  • Overview of the health effects and the current problem;
  • Types, risks and locations of ACM’s in buildings;
  • Legislative requirements on building owners and employers;
  • The domestic premises;
  • Appointing the Surveyor;
  • The survey report;
  • Material assessments (HSG 264);
  • Priority assessments (HSG 227);
  • Management control options and recommendations;
